Film Curatorial PracticesAugust 2010
This 3 day workshop organised by the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) and Katha Centre for Film Studies, in collaboration with the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, covered critical understandings on the history of film criticism and curation, curatorial research methods, curatorial writing, the practical aspects of film curation, context specific curation, and the different ways of engaging with audiences. The workshop thus equipped participants with the research, analytical and methodological tools needed for them to become curatorial practitioners. At the end of the workshop, selected participants were given the opportunity to curate a day-long film festival.Speakers included - Anmol Vellani (Executive Director, IFA), Prabodh Parikh (Director, Katha Centre for Film Studies), Tasneem Mehta (Managing Trustee & Honourary Director, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum), Amrit Gangar (Film Scholar & Curator) and Shai Heredia (Programme Executive, IFA)
Rethinking Museums - Commonwealth Association of Museums Conference & Workshop June 2010
The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum hosted a full day programme as one of the partners of the Commonwealth Association of Museums Conference. The programme, attended by 105 delegates representing various Museums of the Commonwealth, discussed the host Museum’s curatorial strategy and display, and its education and outreach programmes. Participants, after making their observations, gave presentations on how the educated middle class and young adults can be attracted to the Museum and how a museum-going culture can be thus inculcated.
Art BurstDecember 2009
The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, in collaboration with the British Council, hosted ‘Art Burst’, on December 5, 2009. It was a workshop attended by artists, gallery owners, curators, art historians and art journalists that provided them an opportunity to network with 20 top British curators and visual art entrepreneurs.
