Description
Soft jaws are a common solution for holding parts that would be difficult to fixture with standard, flat vise jaws during machining. Soft jaws can be 3D printed with continuous fibre reinforcement after being milled from aluminium or steel.
Soft jaws are used on CNC lathes to clamp pre-machined components for further machining to the desired accuracy. To ensure a long service life, these are made of mild steel or En24, En36, and En8. Soft jaws on three-jaw chucks facilitate jaw placement. When the top tooling is mounted to the chuck, the fine serrations on the master jaws and top tooling of most three-jaw chucks used on turning centres must be properly aligned. These soft jaws are clamped on master jaws via serrations and clamping bolts to turn the desired dia of jobs without damaging the soft material's outer dia. These Hardness of jaws are turned intermittently to the desired dia of the job to be clamped in order to maintain accuracy. For the moment, the items listed above are widely used in Bearing turning Industries, etc., and the demand is increasing.
